I am a retired teacher with 31 years of experience including teaching in a private school for special needs children, directing and teaching gifted students, and teaching in elementary and middle school classrooms with mainstreamed students. Presently, I am an adjunct lecturer and field experience supervisor at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. There I teach undergraduate students who are preparing to be teachers. I also present various workshops...one focused on legal issues facing teachers today. Two years ago I was appointed the Director of the Saint Vincent College Challenge Program...a summer program for gifted students entering Grades 6 through 12.

In 2003, I was selected as a Fulbright Memorial Scholarship Scholar who had the opportunity to visit Japan and study that country's educational system with other Fulbright recipients. This particular honor afforded me the opportunity to return to the United States and present information regarding the cultural and educational lifestyles of the Japanese.

In 1989, I was selected as a recipient of the "Profile of a Teacher" Award given by Family Circle Magazine and Campbell's Soup for my efforts in developing student self esteem. Following that award, the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education (NFIE) accepted my proposal related to building communication between parents and schools and funded my project through a grant given by NIKE. The workshops that I directed were quite successful and helped to build relations between the community and my local district where I taught.

Most recently I was selected as a Marquis Who's Who in America. I also was made an honorary member of Kappa Delta Pi after being their keynote speaker at Saint Vincent College.

In 2007, Publish America published my book entitled "No New Teacher Left Behind". This book was a compilation of my thoughts and advice related to the various experiences I have had as a teacher. The purpose was to motivate teachers to believe in themselves and to take on the critics of education.

My college students have described me as dedicated...motivating...caring...and always interested in helping them pursue their dreams. As a freelance writer, most of my articles are written to help the new teacher discover that teaching is a career with great rewards and positive experiences.

I am also excited to add that I became a first time grandmother in May, 2010. My daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter provide me with real life experiences that allow me to write for new parents and grandparents.
